I'm sure you will excuse my use of the word "hommies" I do mean it in the sense of home girl, or best friend nothing else quite did the job for me.
We have all had them. The girls you just couldn't live without. The girls you were attached to the hip with, your BFF's. You would ride around town together in the middle of the night discovering the world and what exciting things it had to offer. You were all, in a sense growing up together. I happen to be a big believer that most of our growing up comes when we have left home. These girls would always have your back, even if they knew you were wrong, but it's ok cause you would do the same for them.
Then one day one of your girls meets "him" the guy who just had to be included cause she "loves" him. Over time the girls on the town became a couples affair. Of course the inevitable happens somebody pops the question and the group turns into a married couples affair, no big deal. You still go out just as long as you can be home by 10. Life is good at this point. You have your girls and your significant other to share life with and it's great. Oh but wait....
A baby changes everything. She gets pregnant and the most amazing life change happens. It spreads like a virus and you end up getting it too. No more time for the mall or lunch, it's all dirty diapers and spit up. Not to mention sweet little coos and endless cuddle sessions.
With all the changes that a friendship goes through you can still loose touch and relationships can fizzle away. The girls that are at your side may change through the years. The ones that last are the sweetest. No matter how many times the girls change and no matter the situation they are always the best. You could never find two girls that are the same and that is one of life's greatest and most exciting adventures.
So this is dedicated to all my mommy hommies that have made time to pack up the kids and go to the mall with me, or sit and listen to me cry, or laughed so hard we cried, the biggest and warmest thank you.
