My Country

I am an American and I LOVE my country! I am a little bit of a boob when it comes to the USA, I get all teary eyed when I watch the opening of the Superbowl because for just one minute the players and fans are one thing whether respectfully or not, they are all Americans. My favorite is when I see the biggest players and how they have such a reverence.

Lots and I do means LOTS of people are very vocal about how much they hate the current President. Well I say: Get over it! He'll make bad choices just like the other guys have, no one is perfect. But the wonderfully glorious part of it is that WE chose him! We had the privilege to choose who is running our country. That is the best of all! Even if you didn't vote for him, we should still celebrate our democracy!

I also have a deep respect and honor for our Servicemen and women. Many people discourage their children from joining or even put down the military institutions. To that I say: "If you won't stand behind them PLEASE stand in front of them!" These people are so brave and selfless! I know some join for selfish reasons but who cares, it's all service for us. I'm proud to have family and friends that have served in military positions. I want to extend the biggest warmest from the bottom of my heart to the top "thank you" to the soldiers that work and fight for our freedom.

I can't even list all the things I love about this country. I love how it was discovered and set up by divine guidance. I love that I have the right to worship as I please and I love that my friends can also worship, or not. We are not forced to go to church or do things we don't want to (except those pesky taxes). I love that I can live where I want I love that I have the choice to work or not work. I love that I could have a million kids if I wanted to, and they could be all girls! I love that my husband is the man I chose to marry. I love that he is free to work in the field of his choice.

I may not always agree with what's going on in office or politics (gag), but there is one thing for sure, I love this country, and I am proud to say that I am an American! I want you to be proud too!

Yes! I feel the same way. I was watching the "Masterpiece Theatre Anne Frank" last night and just started bawling at the end. After I was done crying my eyes out, I found myself crying out of gratitude for my country, for where I live, for my freedom and family. We are so blessed! Dave laughs because I've been teaching the kids about America and Independence Day all week. (Just like my Dad and I KNOW your Dad did! :)

By the way, have you see the Dodge Charger commercial with the Revolutionary War and George Washington! It's great: http://throttleblips.dailyradar.com/video/2010-dodge-challenger-freedom-60-second-commercial/

I get all teary-eyed sometimes, too. It's weird, but then I realize that gratitude is a good thing (and necessary) when you live in this country.
I don't like the "hate" word but I definitely notice people who say they hate Obama and it makes me cringe. Surely he is a nice person and takes care of his family. Just don't agree with anything he is doing politically, strangely enough. I didn't choose him, though, and even some people who chose him wish they hadn't.(Hindsight is always 20/20, as they say.) But like you said, people disagree with every president but need to respect the position. Some people are still having to say "get over it" when the "h" word is used about Bush (or Clinton, or FDR, for Pete's sake.) All in all, this is the best country to live in...and I hope it stays that way, and those people who fight for our freedom are not doing it in vain. God really is in charge and his hand will always be over this country - it always has been.
